This policy explains how PlaceWell uses cookies and similar technologies on [website URL], and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our privacy notice. Where this page shows a detail in square brackets, that detail has not yet been confirmed for publication.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let a site remember things between pages and visits — for example that you are signed in.

We also use similar technologies such as local storage, which stores small amounts of information in your browser, and pixels, which are tiny files used to tell whether a page or message has been opened. In this policy, 'cookies' covers all of these.

Session cookies
Deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies
Stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.
First-party cookies
Set by PlaceWell.
Third-party cookies
Set by another organisation whose service appears on our site.

2. Why we use cookies

  • To keep you signed in securely and protect your session
  • To remember choices you have made, such as your cookie preferences
  • To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it
  • To keep the service secure and detect misuse

Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the service cannot work without them. Everything else is only used if you agree.

3. Categories of cookies

Strictly necessary

Required for the site to function — signing in, keeping your session secure, load balancing and remembering your cookie choice. These do not need consent and cannot be switched off in our preference centre.

Preferences

Remember choices you make, so the site behaves the way you expect on your next visit. Switching these off means you may need to set your preferences again each time.

Analytics

Help us understand which pages are used and where people run into difficulty, so we can improve the service. These are only set with your consent.

Marketing

Used to measure or target campaigns. These are only set with your consent. Where PlaceWell does not run marketing cookies, this category remains switched off and empty.

4. Cookie inventory

The table below shows the format of our cookie inventory. The rows are placeholders to be completed after a cookie audit — they are examples of the information that will be listed, not a statement that these specific cookies are in use.

Cookie inventory (placeholder rows pending a cookie audit)
Cookie nameProviderPurposeTypeDuration
[cookie name][provider][purpose]Strictly necessary[duration]
[cookie name][provider][purpose]Preferences[duration]
[cookie name][provider][purpose]Analytics[duration]
[cookie name][provider][purpose]Marketing[duration]

Replace every row above with the results of a cookie audit before publication, and remove any category that is not used.

5. Managing your preferences

You can change which optional cookies you allow at any time using the button below. Your choice is stored on your device, so you may need to set it again on a different browser or after clearing your browsing data.

Withdrawing consent does not affect anything that happened before you withdrew it.

6. Browser controls

Your browser can also block or delete cookies. The controls are usually found in the privacy or security section of your browser settings, under a heading such as 'Cookies and site data'.

  • Delete cookies already stored on your device
  • Block cookies from specific sites, or block all cookies
  • Browse in a private or incognito window, which clears cookies when you close it
  • Turn on 'do not track' or similar privacy signals, where your browser offers them

Blocking all cookies will stop you signing in to the PlaceWell platform, because sign-in relies on strictly necessary cookies.

7. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The dates at the top of the page show when it last changed. Where a change involves new non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent again.
